Paul Gottfried is one of the better Conservative historians. This is an excellent interview with him where he describes the historical context of the Left and the Right, especially after WW1. This is one of the best discussions of the left/right spectrum that I have heard. Objectivists should listen to it as they are always confused when they discuss this subject, often arguing that "what difference does it matter, left boot right boot...". No, it does matter. It matters that you understand history and what you are talking about. As Gottfried discusses, essentially all politicians today are leftist. There is no "right" wing movement in America. Well, maybe Trump represents the start of one. Which is why he's hated by the two dominant Leftist movements out there: the left-liberals and the mainstream Conservatives.
